​Doug MacRae is from London, Ontario, Canada, and has been piping since the age of eight.  He has experienced a successful competitive career as a consistent prize-winner through the ranks.  Some of his accomplishments include the Pipers’ and Pipe Band Society of Ontario Champion Supreme Award for Junior Amateur Piobaireachd and Senior Amateur Piobairechd.  Doug has also won the Professional Piobaireachd Award at the Maxville Highland Games (2004), the Canadian Gold Medal Piobaireachd (2010), and the Kansas City Silver Medal (2011). 

Aside from competitive piping, Doug also tours with The Rogues, a highly acclaimed Celtic group in the United States (www.therogues.com).  Doug is featured on their most recent album, "3lbs. of Rage."

From 2003-2008, Doug spent his time in Houston, TX teaching bagpipes at St. Thomas' Episcopal School Pipe Band.  There, he acted as the band director, leading the group to a Juvenile World Championship in 2006.
 

Doug is a 16 year member of The 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band and acts as Pipe Major.  He is a certified adjudicator for the PPBSO.  He lives in London and manages Scott’s Highland Services, a distributer of bagpipes, drums and other Scottish items.
